Neurosky Mindset Review

I received my Neurosky Mindset a few months ago, and I am impressed with the hardware. The software, on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired. The headset itself connects with Blutooth and pairing it the first time with manual in hand was easy. When I tried to install it on my laptop without the manual, getting my computer to recognize the headset as anything other than an audio device was hairy. Only two programs came with the device: a brain monitoring program that lacked any mechanism for saving the brain scans, logging, or doing anything over any amount of time. The other program felt very half-baked; basically it was just a small 3-D game room with a character and a few objects, like cars, blocks, and wooden barrels. That said, it was still a blast to move things around with my mind alone. While I was unimpressed with the software that came bundled with the mindset, I have to admit that the device does exactly what it advertises it will do. While the Neurosky Mindset is a little rough around the edges for a two hundred dollar brain-scanner, I am excited about the future possibilities for this device.
