Prediction Time!
I have been thinking about this and I think I may be onto something here. I think the iPad 2 will have 3d capabilities. Either via glasses or without. Why would I think such a thing? Allow me to bring out my friend "The Bullet"

At that resolution, it would be easy to layer on a lenticular lens surface for easy no-goggles 3D. (They've already patented a superior version of this, which a pity I thought of but didn't patent a decade ago.)
ReplyDeleteMore likely for the iPad3 though. For iPad2, I presume Apple puts "retina" display as the priority. Lenticular 3D would be the "so what's your next trick?" next trick. 3D is too hyped now; let the chaos burn out before making the "just works" version. (Memories of "virtual reality": awesome social meme which far outpaced real technology; the meme had to die and then reincarnate the link as 3D FPSs.)
